About REO.Sonoma.net
REO is the abbreviation for Real Estate Owned by banks and other financial institutions (we’ll just call them banks on this site). We use the term today to refer to homes that have been through the foreclosure process that the banks are now actively trying to sell. There are many bank owned properties that aren’t on the market yet, properties that are in the middle of the foreclosure process, and still other properties involved in what are known as short sales (trying to sell the house for less than the amount due on the mortgage(s).) This site is only involved with homes actively being sold by banks.
We exist to serve buyers. We don’t have to try to persuade our buyers that the pink stucco bungalow that we are listing is just as good as the shingle-sided Craftsman they were looking for (that isn’t in our inventory). We’ll help you navigate the looking, bidding, and buying process that is similar to buying a home in normal times, but has plenty of new wrinkles due to the prevalence of REO listings as the bulk of today’s market.
We are affiliated with two exceptionally good real estate brokerages. Healdsburg Sotheby’s International Realty and Artisan Sotheby’s International Realty are in Healdsburg and Santa Rosa respectively, but we work with properties all over Sonoma County as well as in Marin, Napa, Mendocino, Lake, and even San Francisco. The map that is featured on the next tab covers all those areas, so feel free to navigate on the map to find your primary area of interest.
Your first contact will be with me, Dave Roberts, since I am author and owner of this site. The team I work with has many top notch agents and I may refer you to one of them based on schedules and interest. I will always be available to talk or email to make sure your REO search is proceeding well. This is a very fascinating time in the market with some wonderful opportunities to get excellent values at almost all price points. You have to be ready to act fast and decisively when the house you want is available, but the maps, tips and guidance on this site should help you get your dream home.
